Atlanta does not know how to dress up? Wrong, says MÄÐ MØD, a powerful voice of the city’s new creative generation. An interview about fashion, music and the future of style.

Art comes in many shapes and forms. So why limit yourself to just one of them? The Atlanta-based creative MÄÐ MØD is the epitome for what the human mind can conceive when an artist knows no boundaries. Between fashion, music and visual art, MÄÐ MØD is one of Atlanta’s new and most unusual voices of a new generation of style-makers. “I paint. I make clothes. I make music. I produce. I’m an artist of many canvases”, he says.
His brand is called Mad Denim Co, also known as MDC, but MÄÐ MØD has also worked with other notable brands such as Luv Abominable, Blaxk Adolescent or UGG. At Adidas, he was the youngest employee to work for the company, he tells us.
As a designer, MÄÐ MØD creates his very own style of fashion. “I have been fascinated by clothing my entire life. I knew I that I wanted to have a brand one day, but I wanted to do it the right way”, he says. And by now, MÄÐ MØD has long mastered many different styles. “I can create streetwear, and I can create business attire. If it’s t-shirts and cargo pants or ties, button-ups, loafers and trench coats” – he can do it all. “There is this stereotype that people in Atlanta don’t dress up, not in the way people know it from runway fashion. But we do get dressed for real.” With his own creations, MÄÐ MØD has set out to prove that – and wants to show the world that Atlanta knows exactly how good, and how unique, fashion can look like.
“I do feel like I represent Atlanta in all areas in a nutshell. All that I come from”, MÄÐ MØD says. Both his sound and visual style are an imprint of all which the city encompasses. “I’m not from the hood, but I’ve been in the hood. My parents always made sure that I was doing good. So I was never really subject to my environment. But I always knew everybody.” MÄÐ MØD was an athlete for most of his life, and played sports with people from both sides of the tracks. “I know the city. If you’re really from here, Atlanta is super small. From the outside it seems like so much is going on. But everybody’s really just one person away. If you know the right people, everybody is close to you.”
When he lost his football scholarship in college after he had taken the wrong classes on his counselor’s ill-fitted advice, MÄÐ MØD gave up his dream of professional sports. But that was when the world of art began to seem all the more fascinating. “I just always knew that it was something bigger that I wanted to do in life”, he says. He began producing songs during the Covid pandemic and dropped his first songs in 2023 and 2024. Over the past two years, MÄÐ MØD has set out to build a unique identity, both sonically and visually.
As a beatmaker and sound engineer, he has worked with artists who form the backbone of Atlanta’s music community, like Warhol or Dono. “I make all kinds of music, but my sound mostly belongs to the underground and pop scene”, he says. And of course, he creates his very own music.
“When it comes to fashion, I built a staple around the cut of my pants, and it’s a cut that I invented, so it sticks out like a sore thumb to people. They always ask about it, because it’s just completely different from other designs. And I’m not just trying to build another streetwear brand that’s popping. I don’t aspire to be like Supreme or something like that. I’m trying to build a fashion house. That makes my process very different”, he says. “As far as music goes, I think my versatility is what makes me stick out, my word play, and how I’m able to incorporate my real life into my raps. People who have been around me know that I literally rap about exactly what’s going on in my life.”
And that, for the longest time, almost felt too personal to even put out into the world, MÄÐ MØD remembers. “I didn’t even want to drop music when I first started making music. I was making music just to vent. In my music, I talked about things that I did not want to have conversations with people about, but that I wanted to get off my chest. I didn’t let people hear my music a lot either, because it was so personal to me”, he says – until one encounter changed his entire trajectory.
MÄÐ MØD was playing some of his music to himself in the studio when a friend walked by. It was Fuse, member of the legendary record production and songwriting group 808 Mafia which had been founded by record producers TM88, Lex Luger, and Southside. “Fuse was walking down the hall and he just walked into the room”, MÄÐ MØD recalls. “He asked, who is this? And I told him it was mine. He said, this is hard. But he was on the phone, so he walked back out. I played like two more songs. And Fuse walked back in the room and was like, who is this again? And I said again, this is mine too. And he couldn’t believe it. He said, I gotta hear some records. He was literally still on the phone, and he just sat in the room on the phone listening to my songs. Knowing how big 808 Mafia is, just for him to have felt that strongly about my music in that moment made me feel that I had to at least try. I had to give it a chance.” And that’s what MÄÐ MØD did.
He has just finished the recording process for his next project titled “XOXO” which, as he tells us, will be a project about the journey of his love life – “a vibe more so for the women but with high energy production that men can vibe to as well, kind of like Don Toliver.” He will also be releasing his first eleven-piece art collection along with the project, with each piece telling the story of each song on there. “As of right now there are no features but it’s undeniably my best work yet”, MÄÐ MØD says, and smiles.
And with that, MÄÐ MØD holds in his hands the potential to be one of the people who change what Atlanta looks and sounds like, for the future to come. “I can see everything come together. I am only just starting my prime, personally and as an artist.” And that, we can certainly see – and hear.
